Med Ball-2011

Hey guys, the medball photos finally got uploaded! So here goes my report of the night of 2nd september 2011, enjoy! I checked my watch with a lazy eye that was nearly completely eclipsed by heavy eyelids as distant babble about myotonic dystrophy gingerly danced around my ears. The wall my head was resting on was doing its job perfectly. Sitting on the inside seat of the 10th row in the lecture hall is a tough job. You feel you are far away enough to be concealed, which makes you inclined to behave obnoxiously and rebelliously, yet you are totally exposed to the lecturer's line of sight. The cold tingle of silence and searing embarrassment when you realize the lecturer has stopped talking and is staring you down is not comfortable, never will it ever be. This time wasn't an exception. "Any questions" a strangely enthused voice from the lecturer asked on a warm, sedating friday afternoon. "Can we leave yet?" I mumbled to myself Back at college, I whipped out my suit that I had been waiting 5 weeks to wear and when I put it on, damn it looked good. There's something about a striking and well fitted suit that embellishes you with an abnormal surge of confidence, kind of makes you feel invincible and you can do anything you want. After borrowing some hairspray, we were ready to arrive at our ball in style.....in a maxi taxi. This was not any ordinary taxi, it was one that had a worrying creak to it as it rolled along, so encouraging. Of course photos were taken in the taxi:

We finally arrived at Jupiters Casino where we were going to have our ball and was it magnificent! Red carpet, marble floors, glass chandeliers....it was no crown casino, but it's only Townsville, settle down. The function room was fairly spacious, with a dancefloor in the front as well as a stage and a dj chilling in the corner pumping out some beats, like yeah 3x and one of my favs- party rock anthem. I liked it so much I went up onto the floor, burst into the middle of a group of people and proceeded to do the running man in a suit. Man did I feel awesome doing that. Dinner was not too bad, we had an alternate serving of a black angus steak or chicken.
The start of the night was a frenzy of energy draining posing as many many photos were taken. This was done as the head of the medical students association was trying to speak to us of course. Some photos were awesome, some...I am not so proud of.

Oh My! Scandolous! The desert I had was amazing, it was a really artistic choc mousse. Nice, airy, succulent and exploding with flavour :)
The night was amazing and a memory that I will always cherish. Thank you JCU med student association for an amazing night!
